Android Smartphone and Tablet App

The Android App is available as a free download from the Google Play store. The App is optimised for use with both smartphones and tablets. The LightwaveRF App can control any LightwaveRF receiver such as dimmers, sockets or radiator valves via the Lightwave Link. This acts as the gateway between the App and your LightwaveRF devices and allows remote control from anywhere at or away from home.

The App includes clever features such as timers, events, scene lighting and ‘all off’ functions, dusk to dawn sensing, geolocation and remote device locking as standard. It allows you to control up to 15 rooms and 16 LightwaveRF lighting and power devices per room in addition to 80 heating devices such as radiator valves & thermostats.

No. 9 Scene control

Scene control provides a very convenient way to set the level of all of your room lights at once and recall it as a favourite saved setup. With the press of a single button on a LightwaveRF Mood Remote or Controller, Scene Setter, or the App, you can dim selected lights and lamps to provide the perfect atmosphere for watching a movie or to create a relaxed mood for entertaining guests. You can even include power sockets into the scene.

Traditionally, scene lighting has been complex, expensive and hardwired. LightwaveRF is different. It’s wireless, much simpler to install and setup, and more affordable! New modules can be added at any time, and adjustments to preset scenes can be made in seconds. Any LightwaveRF dimmers, power sockets or plug-in sockets can be included into a scene.

No. 10 Simulated Occupancy

Using the LightwaveRF app to set a random timer event, you can ensure that your lights will turn on and off at random times whilst you are away, during the evening or on holiday. This provides added security by giving the illusion that you are at home when you are not.

The random timer is better than a set timer, as the illusion is more complete. With a Lightwave Link and the LightwaveRF app, you can achieve simulated occupancy with as little as a lamp plugged into a plug-in dimmer.

The LightwaveRF Home Thermostat and Boiler Switch allow you to monitor, schedule and control your boiler in real-time manually or from your smartphone, tablet or PC. This can be done at or away from home. Introducing smartphone control of your boiler means that you can control your heating schedule and set real time temperatures from anywhere at any time. This is not only convenient in terms of comfort, but it can also save you energy. If you are unexpectedly out late, make sure that you don’t heat an empty house, but use your phone to turn on the boiler 30 minutes before you return.

No. 3 Control heating room by room

Heating the whole house can be wasteful. Often, every room may be heated, but most remain unoccupied. By turning down radiators in rooms that are not being used with LightwaveRF Radiator Valves, significant energy can be saved.

Energy is saved because demand on the boiler, and the rate at which fuel is being burned is reduced. When you consider that a radiator at maximum output can expend as much energy as an electric fire or kettle, it is easy to see how a bit of extra control can help to save energy and money.

No. 2 Lockable power sockets

LightwaveRF 13A power sockets can be remotely locked to prevent any appliances that are plugged into them being manually turned on or off. Being able to remotely lock LightwaveRF Sockets from the App or the Socket Locker remote allows you to ensure that the kids are safe around potentially dangerous appliances such as the kettle or microwave. You can also lock essential appliances such as a fridge freezer on to prevent accidental switch off.

No. 16 Remotely manage my holiday home

LightwaveRF is very useful for monitoring and managing a second home, holiday home or static caravan. The energy monitor will allow you to keep an eye on power consumption; plugin sockets or dimmers can put on lights on a timer for security; Radiator Valves and Boiler control can make sure that the heating is under control and warm the house before you or your guests arrive; and relays or power sockets can manage gates, curtains or switch off anything that may have been left on.

No. 11 From dusk till dawn

Using the LightwaveRF App and Link, you can set lights or lamps to automatically come on at dusk or dawn everyday. The dusk and dawn timer automatically adjusts to cope with the changing light, making it much more sophisticated than a standard timer.

Any LightwaveRF lighting or power device, such as a dimmer, plug-in or in-line relay, can be timed in this way. It’s a very cost effective way to provide this intelligent solution throughout the home.

No. 13 Wake me up gently

If you have a LightwaveRF dimmer or plug-in dimmer in your bedroom, then setting an event on the app will allow you to turn on the lights at a low level, which you can gradually increase in increments.

What does this mean for you? This can be a wonderful way to help you to wake up gradually in the morning, as it simulates a natural increase in sunlight.

No. 7 One switch to rule them all…

A simple yet much underestimated piece of kit is the LightwaveRF Wire-free Switch. You can use this device to trigger any number of Lightwave devices at once. You can also do this with the Scene Selector (Mood Lighting Controller), the Mood Remote, or ,of course, from the LightwaveRF Apps.

At the press of one button, you can trigger dimmers and plugin sockets to turn on all of your lounge lamps, or perhaps turn off all of your sockets and standbys when you leave.

No.19. Save energy by locking Lightwave dimmers

Many LightwaveRF users do not realise that the dimmer switches have their own automatic in-built timer as standard. The timer can be activated by ‘locking’ a LightwaveRF dimmer using the App or a socket locker.

When locked, you can still turn on the dimmer manually at the switch; however, after 5 minutes the dimmer will automatically turn off again. This is a great feature to use in a communal building or in a hallway and is a great way to save energy by ensuring that lights aren’t left on unnecessarily, also preventing any inconvenience for other residents.

No. 20 Blind control

You can use a LightwaveRF LW821 In-line relay to operate many types of curtain or blind motors. This allows them to be opened and closed using the App and/or a wireless On/Off/Stop switch. You can also go one step further and set a timer that will automatically open or close the curtains or blinds at dawn or dusk. So you can now be woken up naturally every day, as the bright sunlight streams into your bedroom*. Which is a good thing. Obviously.

*Please note offer of bright sunlight is not always applicable to UK based customers.
